Governor Signs Bill to Establish Maryland State Library Agency

Governor Hogan signed SB587 and HB1094 on April 18, 2017, which changes the governance structure for Maryland public libraries under the education laws of Maryland, positioning Maryland Public Libraries as independent and equal in the Education law of Maryland beside K-12 and the Community Colleges. The Maryland State Library Agency is established as an independent agency reporting to the Maryland State Library Board.
