​​Library Coordinated Tactile Tours

The Maryland State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped is excited to coordinate exciting and dynamic tactile tours across the state. 

These tours are held in collaboration with other organizations; tours are first-come, first-served and registration will always be required. 

Frequently Asked Questions about Tactile Tours: 

What is a tactile tour?​A tactile tour is a collaborative effort between LBPH and an outside organization to provide an immersive tour experience of a  3rd party venue that contains elements of audio-description and touch. 
Does the library provide transportation?
​​The library does not provide transportation at this time. 
Does the library provide refreshments/meals?
​The library does not provide refreshments or meals.  
What ages are allowed on tactile tours? 
​​Tactile tours are open to all; however, there are times where a cooperating facility or organization places an age restriction on an event. This will be noted in the event description. 
Do you have to be a patron of the library to attend a tactile tour?
​Our programs are open to all; however, preference is given to library patrons.
Registration is full! Is there a waitlist?
​In most cases, a waitlist is available.

Upcoming Tours

Guinness Open Gate Brewery Tour; Tasting Tour

April 18, 2020

In 2015, the Guinness Open Gate Brewery opened to the public. In this tactile tour, learn about how Guniess makes their Baltimore based Guinness Blonde; explore the brewery; discover the history of the 250-year-old brand. The tactile tour is open to patrons 21 and older, and ID will be required. A Tasting Tour is available after the main tour and has a cost of $12 per person. Registration will open two weeks prior to the event and will be strictly limited to 15 people

December 16, 2019​
